Nelsonville - John William North, 84, a retired coal miner and a lifelong resident of this city, died Thursday evening in the Hocking Valley Hospital at Logan where he has been receiving treatment for three weeks. The body was removed to the Stout funeral home where friends may call. Funeral services will be held at 3 P.M. Monday at the funeral home with Rev. L.A. Griffith officiating. Mr. North was a member of the Nelsonville Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Esther North, three daughters, Mrs. Effie Anderson, Cleveland; Mrs. Clara Leslien, Columbus; and Mrs. Della Linton, local; one brother, Loren, of this city and one sister, Mrs. Mattie North, Plain City, Ohio. OBITUARY: Athens Newspaper 6/7/1987 Lorain - John W. North, 67, of Lorain, died Thursday at Lorain Community Hospital after an extended illness. Mr. North was a graduate of Nelsonville High School. He was retired and had been employed at a steel plant in Lorain. He is survived by three daughters, Barbara Reynolds, Patty Owens and Barbara North; a son, Jack; and eight grandchildren, all of Lorain; a sister, Virginia Blackburn, and a brother, Frank, both of Nelsonville. He was preceded in death by his wife Alice. There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be conducted Monday at the Kingdom Hall in Lorain.
