William Dumont and Emeline Dumont from Athens Township were received February 18, 1868. Ages 56 & 53 years. Birthplace Pennsylvania. Length of residence in Township two years. Previous habits indolent. Present condition, William badly bruised by accident on R. R., Emeline insane and entirely destitute. Received by order of Directors. Jack Sanders, Supt. William left infirmary Dec. 27th, 1868. Emaline Dumont sent to the Lunatic Asylum April 22nd, 1868. Fully Discharged Aug. 29, 1868.

Margaret McDole from Carthage Township was received March 19th, 1868. Age 30 years. Birthplace Mineral County, Virginia. Length of residence in Township two years. previous habits working out by days works. Present condition a raving maniac that means insane. Received by order of Directors. Jack Sanders, Supt. Catharine North was received April 30th, 1868 from Dover Township, Athens County, State of Ohio. Age 92 years. Birthplace State of New York. Length of residence in township not given. Previous habits temperate. Present condition destitute and entirely helpless. Received by order of Directors. Jack Sanders, Supt. Departed this life May 20th, A. D. 1868. Interred in grave No. 17, Range No. 2.

Ann Eliza Cross from Rome Township was received into Infirmary April 23rd, 1868. Age 26 years. Age of her boy received at the same time 4 years. Length of residence 6 years. previous habits vicious. Present condition destitute & pregnant. Received by order of Directors. Jack Sanders, Supt. Said Ann Eliza gave birth to a female child June 26th, 1868. Ran away February 21, 1870. Sent her boy to kin at New England, March 31.

Cordelia Seigler a pauper from York Township was received into the Infirmary June 1st, 1868 with her two children Leonard & Sarah Seigler. Age, previous habits & length of residence not given. Present condition destitute. Received by order of Directors. Jack Sanders, Supt. See Page 120. Cordelia Seigler & her two children discharged by the Directors April 3, 1869.

Mary Ogg, wife of John Ogg, aged 38 years; L. T. Ogg aged 12 years; J. D. Ogg aged 10; W. I. Ogg age 7 years; A. D. Ogg age 4 years, Susan Ogg age 2 years; and an infant female child was received into Infirmary May 20th, 1868. Residence in Trimble Township 4 years. Birthplace not given. Present condition needy. Received by order of Directors. Jack Sanders, Supt. September 2, 1868 female child died & buried Range 1, No. 24. Discharged Mary Ogg for Disorderly Conduct January 5, 1869. Mary Jane Green a pauper from Trimble Township was received into the Infirmary June 12, 1868. Age 20 years. Birthplace unknown. Previous habits vagrancy. Present condition pregnant & unable to travel. Received by order of Directors. Jack Sanders, Supt. Sept. 11, 1868 the said Mary Jane was delivered of a still born male child. Discharged by order of Directors Sept. 15, 1868.

Joseph Bradford a pauper from Athens Township was received into the Infirmary June 20, 1868. Age 35 years. Birthplace Faguier (or Faquier) County, Virginia. Length of residence in Township two years last March. Previous habits unknown. Present condition needy. Poor health and weak mind. Received by order of Directors. Jack Sanders, Supt. Dennis McGloughlin a pauper from Canaan Township was received November 29th, 1868. Age 55 years. Birthplace Gott, Ireland. Length of residence in Township 2 years. Previous habits not given. Emeline McCullough a pauper from Dover Township was received into the Infirmary March 1st, 1869. Birthplace unknown. Length of residence in township 7 years. Age 11 years. present condition destitute. Received by order of Directors. Jack Sanders, Supt.Discharged May 8, 1870. Returned Jan. 23rd, 1877 with a child in her arms.

Peter, Catharine, Samuel & Henry Calendine from Canaan Township were received into Infirmary March 7th, 1869. Birthplace Maryland and Ohio. Ages Peter 60, Catharine 50, Samuel 10, Henry 4 years. present condition near starvation. Received by order of Directors. Jack Sanders, Supt. Discharged May 26th, 1870.

Present condition destitute & pregnant. Received by order of Directors. Jack Sanders, Supt. Delivered of a female child May 9th, 1869 and named it Sarah Frances. Discharged by order May 20th, 1869. Returned November 24th, 1870. Male child born March 18th, 1871. Discharged March 28th, 1871. Returned February 10, 1880. Discharged February 26th, 1880.

George Weiren (or Weimer) & Sophia, wife of the said George & their two little girls from Dover Township were admitted into the Infirmary April 9th, 1869. Present condition destitute. George consumptive. Previous habits good. Ages; george 37, Sophia 24, Children 4 & 2. Received by order of Directors. Jack Sanders, Supt. George died July 16, 1869. Interred in grave No. 23, range No. 2. Sophia Wearen (or Weimer) and children left August 11, 1869. Being fully discharged.

Susan Linscott and her children David H., Thomas B., Etta R., and Lucy A. were received into the Infirmary September 14th, 1869. Ages; 24, 10, 8, 4, & six months. Birthplace Athens County. Length of residence in Township one month. Previous habits unknown. Present condition sick and starved out. Received by order of Directors. Jack Sanders, Supt. Taken away by her brother and discharged Oct. 6th, 1869.

John Janes a pauper from Dover Township was received into the Infirmary September 15th, 1869. Age 65 years. Length of residence in township 35 years. Previous habits industrious with roos? Length of residence in township 3 years. previous habits intemperate. Present condition badly hurt on face in a riot. Received by order of Directors. Jack Sanders, Supt. Discharged January 19th, 1870.

Ruth Moore an insane girl age 24 years was sent to the Infirmary December 1, 1869 by the Probate Judge, and on the 13th December, 1869 was sent to the Lunatic Asylum at Long View. Attest: J. Sanders, Supt. (the side notes are as follows, but note that they have been completely crossed out, leaving no other dismissal notes of any kind. I do not know if these notes have any tie at all to this inmate but am including them, as they were originally written next to her name)… Died October 4, 1871. Interred in grave No. 9?, Range No. 3?

Jasper Lewis a pauper sent to the Infirmary by the Probate Judge Calvary Norris, having been for some three years in the Lunatic Asylum. Present condition insane. Received by order of Directors. Jack Sanders, Supt. At the Lunatic Asylum. Returned April 1st, 1881. Returned to Asylum January 25th, 1887.

Sophia Cullison and her two little girls, paupers from York Township were received into the Infirmary January 23rd, 1870. Age of Sophia 30 years & children 4 & 2. Previous habits indolent. Received by order of Directors. Jack Sanders, Supt. The youngest girl died February 12, 1869 (the record does say 1869, even though it says she entered in 1870. It could be a recording error, possibly meaning to say 1870??) Interred in grave No. 24, Children’s Row. Discharged April 1, 1870.

Rosannah Tucker a pauper from Rome Township was admitted into the Infirmary February 2, 1870. Age 52 years. Birthplace West Virginia. Length of residence in township 30 years. Present condition paralyzed to some extent. Received by order of Directors. Jack Sanders, Supt. Died October 4, 1871. Interred in grave No. 4, Range No. 3.

Mary J. Hamilton and her two children were received into the Infirmary from Athens Township on the 6th day of February, 1870. Age of Mary J. 28 years. Length of residence in township 10 years. Previous habits tolerable good. Present condition sick and foolish. Received by order of Directors. Jack Sanders, Supt. Re entered. Discharged March 5, 1871. Returned August 30, 1872. Died February 26, 1875. Interred in grave No. 22, Range No. 3. Body taken away. Runaway April 5th, 1873, being fully discharged. Returned 29 Dec. 1874. Taken to Athens by her Mother March 23, 1875. (the record is written in the order in which it is in the book. It does not say to whom all the notes are applying to, mother or child.)

Mary Ann Palk a pauper from Ames Township was admitted into the Infirmary April 18th, 1870. Age 17 years. Birthplace Athens County. Present condition pregnant with bastard child. Received by order of Directors. Jack Sanders, Supt. See page 33. Delivered of a male child May 16th, 1870. Ran away on the night of the 5th of June, 1870 & discharged.

Joseph J. Bobo a pauper from Waterloo Township was admitted into the Infirmary May 19th, 1870. Age 41 years. Birthplace Athens County Ohio. Previous habits industrious. Present condition sick with consumption. Martha, the above named Bobo’s wife, came with him and is permitted to remain by the Infirmary Directors. Received by order of Directors. Jack Sanders, Supt. Died June 30th, 1870. Interred in grave No. 26, Range No. 2.

Richard Carr a pauper from York Township was received into the Infirmary July 24, 1870. Age 82 years. Birthplace Maryland. Length of residence in township not given. Present condition very feeble. Received by order; Jack Sanders, Supt. Died January 30, 1894 (maybe 1874). Interred in grave No. 16, Range 3.

Eliza J. Davis & child, paupers from Athens Township were received into the Infirmary July 26th, 1870. Age 24 years & (child) 5 months. Birthplace Monroe? County West Virginia. Length of residence in Athens County 14 months. Previous habits industrious. Present condition in a family way. Received by order; Jack Sanders, Supt. To the Directors, Athens County Infirmary, on complaint we found the infant child of Eliza Buchanan deceased, in a suffering condition. Said infant child has a legal settlement in Athens Township. Age 2 months. Present condition helpless. Received by order; October 26, 1870, Jack Sanders, Supt. Taken away by Mr. Russell, Athens, February 4, 1871.

Rebecca Dunfee & Lewis Loraine, her child, was received into the Infirmary October 27, 1870. Ages 75 & 3 years. Birthplace Troy Township (Athens County) Ohio. Previous habits trifling. Caroline Smith was sent to infirmary by the Trustees of Waterloo Township and received Nov. 9, 1870. Age 18 years. Birthplace Indiana. Length of residence in township fourteen months. Present condition in a family way. Received by order; Jack Sanders, Supt. Delivered of a male child March 25th, 1871 named the child Charlie Manwell Smith. Went to Prestons May 22, 1871 went with her (illegible word).
